URL Uniqueness Rule in Babkee

Last update: 16.06.2026

     📄 Overview

In the Babkee system, a URL uniqueness rule is enforced to ensure:

  • accurate data collection
  • prevention of data conflicts
  • improved analytics accuracy

📌 This rule applies to all newly created URLs.

⚙️ Rule Description

Each URL must be associated with:

  • a Campaign
  • an Ad Group

🚫 In certain scenarios, URL duplication is not allowed.

⚠️ If the rule is violated, the campaign will be automatically stopped.

🧭 Rule Logic (Visual Explanation)

Interpretation:

  • A Campaign contains multiple Ad Groups
  • An Ad Group contains multiple Ads
  • Each URL must logically belong to a specific Ad Group
  • URL duplication is allowed only within a single Ad Group

✅ Valid Configurations

✔ Case 1: Basic Structure

Campaign

Campaign
 └── Ad Group
      └── Ad (URL 1)

✔ Valid

✔ Case 2: Different URLs in Different Ad Groups

Campaign

Campaign
 ├── Ad Group A → Ad (URL 1)
 └── Ad Group B → Ad (URL 2)

✔ Valid

✔ Case 3: Same URL within One Ad Group

Campaign

Campaign
 └── Ad Group
      ├── Ad 1 (URL 1)
      ├── Ad 2 (URL 1)
      └── Ad 3 (URL 1)

✔ Allowed

❌ Invalid Configurations

✖ Case 4: Same URL Across Different Ad Groups

Campaign
 ├── Ad Group A → Ad (URL 1)
 └── Ad Group B → Ad (URL 1)

❌ The campaign will be stopped

✖ Case 5: Same URL Across Different Campaigns

Campaign A → Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)
Campaign B → Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)

❌ The campaigns will be stopped

📌 Additional Rule

URL uniqueness is enforced across all campaign states, including:

  • ✅ Active campaigns
  • ⏸ Paused campaigns
  • 📦 Archived campaigns

⚠️ This means:

A URL must remain unique even if it is used in a paused or archived campaign.

🧭 Rule Explanation

The system does not differentiate between campaign statuses when validating URL uniqueness.

Even if a campaign is:

  • stopped
  • inactive
  • archived

➡ ️ Its URLs are still considered in use by the system.

✅ Valid Scenario

✔ Case 6: Unique URLs across all states

Campaign A (Active)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)
Campaign B (Paused)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 2)
Campaign C (Archived)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 3)

✔ All URLs are unique → Valid

❌ Invalid Scenarios

✖ Case 7: Duplicate with Paused Campaign

Campaign A (Active)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)
Campaign B (Paused)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)

❌ Not allowed
➡️ Campaign A (or B) will be stopped

✖ Case 8: Duplicate with Archived Campaign

Campaign A (Active)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)
Campaign B (Archived)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)

❌ Not allowed
➡️ Campaign A will be stopped

✖ Case 9: Duplicate between Paused Campaigns

Campaign A (Paused)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)
Campaign B (Paused)
 └── Ad Group → Ad (URL 1)

❌ Not allowed
➡️ Campaigns will be stopped after activation attempt or validation

💡 Best Practices (Decision Logic)

How to validate:

  • Is the URL used in another Campaign? → ❌ Not allowed
  • Is the URL used in another Ad Group? → ❌ Not allowed
  • Is the URL used within the same Ad Group? → ✅ Allowed

🛠 Troubleshooting

Issue: Campaign was automatically stopped

Checklist:

  • Check for duplicate URLs
    Review other Campaigns
  • Review neighboring Ad Groups
  • Ensure the URL is unique within the structure
